Quick prep and easy to make, this authentic Southern Oven-Fried Chicken is the perfect family dinner. Crunchy, juicy flavorful breaded chicken baked in the oven.
3 to 4poundsbone-in chickensuch as thighs or drumsticks
⅔cupsflour
1teaspoonsalt
½teaspoonblack pepper
½teaspoonwhite pepper
½teaspoongarlic powder
2eggs
¼cupwater
1½cupscornflakes crumbs
½cupgrated Parmesan cheese
Instructions
Preheat oven to 400°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Set aside.
You'll need 3 separate bowls that are large enough for the chicken pieces. In the first bowl, add flour, salt, black pepper, white pepper, and garlic powder. Whisk to combine.
In the second bowl, add eggs and water. Whisk to combine.
In the third bowl, add cornflakes and Parmesan and stir to combine.
Dredge a piece of chicken in the flour mixture. Then dunk in egg mixture. Then coat in cornflake mixture. Place onto prepared baking sheet. Repeat for each piece of chicken.
Bake at 400°F for about 30 to 40 minutes, or until cooked through.
