1poundground beef
1medium oniondiced
2garlic clovesminced
1cupwater
1can(15 ounces) diced tomatoesundrained
1jar(24 ounces) tomato pasta sauce
2tablespoonstomato paste
1½teaspoonsItalian seasoning
1teaspoongranulated sugar
1cupuncooked elbow macaroni noodles
Salt and pepperto taste
Instructions
In a large skillet over medium heat, brown ground beef with onion and garlic. Cook until ground beef is cooked through and no longer pink.
Drain excess grease from ground beef and transfer meat to the slow cooker.
Add remaining ingredients EXCEPT macaroni. Stir to combine.
Cover the slow cooker and cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for about 2-4 hours.
During the last hour of cooking, add in uncooked elbow macaroni and stir.
Cover and cook until noodles are al dente, or to your preference.
Add salt and black pepper to taste. Serve warm.

Notes
Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. To reheat, warm on the stovetop or in the microwave, adding a splash of water if needed to loosen the sauce.
Freezer Directions: Store without the pasta for best results. Freeze for up to 3 months, then thaw and reheat, adding freshly cooked noodles before serving. To freeze a completed goulash with noodles, try my stovetop version, as the noodles won't be quite as soft.
