Add butter and sugar in a large mixing bowl and cream together until light and fluffy.
Add eggs and beat again.
Mix in banana and vanilla.
In a separate bowl, combine flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
Add flour mixture to butter mixture in 3 parts, alternately with buttermilk. Begin and end with flour.
Spread in a lightly greased 9"x13" baking dish
Bake in oven about 33-40 minutes, until cooked through and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Allow to cool completely.
Directions for Frosting:
In a large mixing bowl, cream together butter, sugar, and cocoa powder until well blended and smooth.
Increase mixer speed and continue beating for another 3 mins.
Pour in cream and vanilla and continue beating until combined and creamy. If you feel the consistency is still too thick, add one more tablespoon of cream and beat again. Repeat until it reaches your desired consistency.
Spread frosting over cooled chocolate banana cake.
