Variations & Tips
- Switch up the protein: Swap the pepperoni for cooked Italian sausage, crumbled bacon, ham, or even leftover rotisserie chicken for a different pizza-inspired twist.
- Try different vegetables: Olives, spinach, roasted red peppers, zucchini, or even a handful of cherry tomatoes all work well and add extra color and flavor.
- Use different cheeses: Mozzarella is classic, but provolone, a mozzarellaโParmesan blend, or even a little shredded fontina can add depth.
- Customize the toppings: Finish the frittata with grated Parmesan, extra warmed pizza sauce spooned on top, fresh basil, or red pepper flakes for that classic pizzeria feel.
- Adjust the spice level: For more heat, add a few dashes of hot sauce directly to the egg mixture, use a spicier pizza sauce like arrabbiata, or sautรฉ a diced jalapeรฑo with the vegetables.
- Make it kid-friendly (or not): Keep it mild as written for picky eaters, or split the pan with spicy toppings on one half for adults.
- Use an oven-safe skillet: A 10โ12 inch cast iron or other oven-safe skillet works best to ensure even cooking and easy transfer from stovetop to oven.
