5 Tips to Help You Clean Your Bathroom Faster

1. Start with the Toilet, End with the Toilet

If you want to clean your bathroom faster, try starting and ending your bathroom cleaning session with the toilet. This is because whatever you use to clean the toilet, whether store-bought or homemade, likely needs to sit for at least 5-10 minutes to really clean the toilet bowl. So begin your bathroom cleaning by filling the toilet bowl with cleaner. Then move on with your cleaning, including cleaning the outer parts of the toilet. When you're nearly done, give the toilet bowl its final cleaning swish. If you don't follow this process, you'll likely get to the toilet last and either not let the bowl cleaner sit as long as it needs to, or have to find a way to kill 5-10 minutes while you wait. This is much more efficient, and you know the cleaner really got to disinfect everything!

2. Move Things Early

Are you constantly trying to pick things up and not knock other things over while you clean? Then you're wasting time and effort. Make your bathroom cleaning routine faster by spending a minute in the beginning moving everything out of the way. Clear the sink counter tops, move rugs, etc. Then you can clean without stopping to get things out of your way!

3. Let Dust Fall First

A simple way to reduce your bathroom cleaning time is to not do things twice. In particular, don't make it so you have to vacuum or sweep twice! If you've ever vacuumed, dusted, then had to vacuum again because you realized you knocked a lot of dust to the ground, then you've wasted time. Organize your cleaning session so that everything that could possibly dislodge dust happens before you vacuum or sweep. Then you can clean the floor in peace, knowing you're not about to dirty your clean bathroom floor again.

4. Clean Often

Obviously if you clean more often, there will be less to clean each time as the bathroom will hardly be dirty. But few people want to go through a full bathroom cleaning schedule that often. Instead, an easy way to clean your bathroom faster is just to clean a little, but often. For example, give the tub a wipe down after a bath. Also consider dragging a wet towel over your sink mirror after brushing your teeth, to remove any toothpaste splatters. Do little things like this often enough, and when you go to clean your bathroom for real, the whole process will go much quicker because things won't be as dirty!

5. Keep Supplies Nearby

No one wants to clean the bathroom. So why drag it out by hiding your bathroom cleaning supplies all over the house and having to hunt them down? Clean your bathroom faster by simply having one location for all the bathroom cleaning supplies. Maybe they're all in the same bin in your cleaning closet. Or maybe you keep them all under the sink in the main bathroom. However you choose to set them up, put them all together so that when you start cleaning everything is right there, ready for you to grab and use. This also speeds up your after cleaning supply clean-up!

These are great tips, especially moving everything out of the way before you start cleaning. My question is... how do you speed up and simplify cleaning the tub? I HATE doing that!

These are great tips! I always do spray down the toilet first, then clean it last. I also wind up forgetting to wipe down the back of it until I've already done the floor, knocking all that dust around! I'll do better! I'm with Meg...tub cleaning is the worst!

Love these tips!! My mom taught me about sweeping last when I was younger and it's my favorite clenaing 'hack'!

I appreciate tips to make cleaning easier. I also learned to push the water in the toilet down with the brush before swabbing with cleaner. It is more concentrated then. Thanks!

I think clean often is the one I'm missing. Thanks for sharing. I do think I drag my feet cleaning our bathrooms because they are both old and gross and we aren't ready to do any remodeling. However, I DO think cleaning more often would lower my stress and maybe they'll even start to "feel" clean.

Love all of these. So simple but makes so much sense! I also have to work on just wiping things down more often in between big cleans. Two boys and a hubby at home.. Things need to wiped down often.
