Princess Sparkle Pom Poms

I'm sure you all know the tissue paper pom pom drill by now. These have been a decorating staple at all my kids' birthday parties. They're cute and they're inexpensive when you make them yourself.

Princess is turning ONE in a couple months. She was born on the first snow of the season last year, so she will be having a Snow Princess themed party for her birthday. With her being my first little Princess, I'm still very much infatuated with all things girly and ruffly and SPARKLY! I wanted to make some pretty, sparkly tissue paper pom poms that were fit for a princess. I found some sparkle tissue paper, but it just wasn't sparkly enough. So I decided to bedazzle them myself.

First, you need to know how to make these poms, and the sizing, number of sheets, etc. If you don't already have this pinned on one of your Pinterest boards, HERE is a tutorial for making them from HGTV. And I love THIS tutorial to help with sizing and number of sheets from Speckless.

So after you figure out what size you want and how many sheets, cut your sheets to size. Then I just painted a strip of glue across the edges of the tissue paper and sprinkled glitter on them. I only put glitter on half of the sheets. So, if you're making a pom pom with 8 sheets, glitter four of them. I strongly advice doing this with newspaper under them, as I'm sure you're aware, glitter is a mess.

Wait until the paper is dry, then continue folding them, tying them, and fluffing them, as shown in the tutorial.

Money-Saving Tip:

Every tutorial I've seen has said to secure it with floral wire after accordion folding the paper. I use regular sewing thread to secure it. It works just fine. They've never come apart on me. Mine look just like all the other tutorials. AND I get to save money by using something I already have on hand instead of buying something that I'll rarely use.
