Arlo Baby Monitoring Camera is the smart baby monitor that lets you be productive while knowing your child is safe. Gain more peace of mind, freeing your brain up for other important tasks, like solo bathroom trips (okay, yeah. That might be pushing it a little too far). But here are my top 12 favorite features for the Arlo Baby Monitor and why it's on my baby must have list!
Arlo Baby is the Smart Baby Monitor That Lets You Be Productive While Knowing Your Child is Safe
One of the hardest parts of being a mom is getting everything done. It seems like there's never enough hours during the day, doesn't it?! You have to spend all day meeting the needs (and demands) of your little guys, and in those precious spare moments, when someone isn't hanging on your leg begging for something, you have to try to squeeze in all the cooking and cleaning and maintenance and personal hygiene... Even when the kids are napping or finally asleep for the night, you still keep a watchful eye (and ear) on their bedroom, in case there are bad dreams or sniffles or potty emergencies! Being a mom is tough, and it seems like tasks outside of child care always need to get pushed to the back burner.
Unfortunately, I can't get rid of your other chores (I know, bummer.) But I do have a way to help you get more done, even while caring for your little people! My children are now a little older than babyhood. My youngest is three, so she's exiting toddler-hood, even. But I am lucky enough to watch my two little nephews, one who just turned two and one tiny newborn, so I still get my baby fix! And I'm still just as worried about their well-being as my own children's, and life is even crazier with FIVE kids 6 and under than with just my own chaotic crew.

Fortunately, I got to try out the Arlo Baby Monitoring Camera, and I was really impressed. I am IN. LOVE. This monitor basically allows you to be in two places at once. How awesome is that?! It's every mom's (and auntie's) dream! You can get more done, knowing that your children are safe. I mean, you can actually see them and hear them, safe and sound. Here's what I loved about the monitor.
Arlo Baby Monitor Review
The Arlo Baby Monitoring Camera came with the Arlo Baby camera, USB power cable, USB power adapter, wall-mount plate, mounting screws, and directions to get started. We got the cute green bunny Arlo Baby camera, which I love, and it also comes in adorable kitten and puppy characters.
You might notice that there's no receiver monitor in that list, and that's because you can just use your phone. You just download the app, available in the Apple Store, Google Play, and Amazon Apps. If you already have the Arlo app from another device, it's simple to add the Baby camera as a new device in the app. Once downloaded, the app will guide you through more directions that are easy to follow. The whole set-up including taking it out of the box took me less than 20 minutes. Very quick and very easy.
Top 10 Arlo Baby Monitor Features
1. High Quality Video Capabilities
Arlo Baby camera has 1080p HD video, which basically means that it's crisp, clear, and vibrant. You can actually SEE your child, un-distorted and un-fuzzy. The quality is much nicer than any of our previous monitors for our older kids!
2. Night Vision
Arlo Baby has advanced night vision technology that turns on automatically in low light. No need to turn on any lights or crack open the (squeaky) door and accidentally wake baby up. You can see crystal clear in any light.
3. Air Sensor
The Arlo Baby camera also has a built-in air sensor that checks the air in the room for temperature, humidity, and quality, so you'll know right away if baby is too hot or too cold.
4. 2-Way Talk
This is one of my favorite features, especially for mobile babies and toddlers. You can hear your child like most other monitors, but your child can also hear you. You can talk to him right from your cellphone. Which I find particularly useful for littles trying to fight bedtime. When you see them standing or sitting or jumping or trying to climb out of the crib, you can remind them that it's time for sleep without having to run in every 5 minutes. Since you can use Arlo Baby during the day for play time, too, it can also be particularly useful for when you need a mommy (or daddy) potty break. If your munchkin is getting into the diaper rash cream (AGAIN!), you can tell them to stop AND use the bathroom by yourself AT THE SAME TIME. Pretty magnificent.
5. Music or White Noise Player
We've always used a fan in our kids' rooms for white noise, but the Arlo Baby camera has a built-in music and white noise player. You can pick what it plays right from the app on your phone or computer. You can even record your own voice, singing or talking to help your little one relax and go to sleep.
6. Instant Smart Alerts
You can set up alerts to be notified about movements, sound, and even air quality in the room. These alerts are then sent right to your phone or computer. You can set to be notified when it's too hot, too cold, too dry, or when then there's sound and movement in the nursery. The sound alert is really is SMART. It will tell you specifically if it's the sound of your baby.
7. Control Remotely
Another great thing about the Arlo Baby Monitor is that it is controlled remotely from your phone or computer. You can change settings right in the app, so there's no need to mess with the actual monitor itself.
8. 7 Day Cloud Storage
All video is stored for 7 days so you can review, download, or share special moments for the whole week.
9. Rechargeable Battery
This is truly great. No need to buy batteries. You can just plug it in, just like your cellphone, and it will recharge. I recommend keeping the charger in the room that you will be using it most, like the nursery, so that it can be plugged in during that time. The battery will last for about 6 hours in normal light or 3 hours using advanced night vision, so you'll definitely want to keep it plugged in at night.
10. Easily Portable
On that same note, the rechargeable battery does make the Arlo Baby Monitor easily portable. You can just unplug it from it's charge cord in the morning, and move it wherever baby is for playtime, until nap-time or bed-time again! Super easy. And it's rotating and easily movable head means you can put it pretty much anywhere.
11. Multi-Color Night Light
It's a simple thing, but having a built-in night light can be extremely helpful, for older toddlers and preschoolers if they're scared of the dark, and also for parents to see their way into the room during a midnight feeding without having to turn a bright light on, waking baby (and mommy) up even more.
12. Multiple Users
And last but not least, another of my favorite features. You can add multiple users to your account. They just need to download the app and you can "grant permission" for them to access the camera. Here's why I think that's awesome. This means that while I'm watching my sweet nephews, my sister can check in on them and SEE them and even talk to them any time she wants! So even though she's at work, she still has total access to her babies. I also wish we would have had this monitor when my kids were babies. My husband it a firefighter, so he's gone for 24 hours or more at a time several hours per week. The kids miss him, especially at bedtime, and it would have been really awesome if he could check in on them to tell them goodnight. It is just an amazing feature for families.
Useful for All Children as They Grow
Sure, this device is called the Arlo BABY Monitor, but its also really great for older children, too. The monitor really grows with the child. So as a baby, you can use it to watch baby sleep. As a toddler, you might use it to make sure your trouble-maker is staying out of trouble while you run to the bathroom or upstairs to grab something. You might check in on school-age children to make sure they're doing their homework, or to tell them to get off the computer or turn off the TV when they've hit their limit for the day. And for kids who can stay home by themselves, but are new to it, you can easily check in to make sure everything is normal, and your kiddo is still safe and sound. The possibilities are endless at any age!
Increase Peace of Mind and Productivity
I'm not sure if you're like me, but my level of worry and anxiety about my kids, of any age, directly affects my productivity. The higher my worry, the lower my productivity. And as a working mom with 3 kids in too many activities, 2 nephews who frequent our home on the week days, and a hubby who works really strange hours, I have too much to do to be worried all the time! It's easier to be calm when I can check in on my kids at home ANY time to KNOW that they are safe and sound and happy and healthy. What a relief!
