Candied Bacon

Candied Bacon.  I really don't feel like this needs an introduction, but just in case it does, let me give you the run down. It's bacon. Rubbed in brown sugar. And baked to salty, sweet, crispy perfection.

What can you do with candied bacon? Well you can start by trying not to down the whole tray of crispy sweet goodness by yourself.  But you can also serve it along side your favorite breakfast (Candied bacon dipped in maple syrup! O.M.G!), use it as a
pretty, flavorful garnish for desserts and recipes, or add it to pretty much every recipe that you think needs some bacon (so, like, pretty much every recipe. Right?!) Or how about in this Bacon Grilled Cheese Braid? Mmmm

Okay, so let's get down to business here. I'm sure your mouth is watering. I know mine is! Here's how you make candied bacon.

Ingredients

  • 12 thick cut slices of bacon This should be about a pound
  • About ⅓ cup brown sugar

Instructions

  • Line a large baking sheet with foil and lightly grease.
  • Lay the bacon out flat on the baking sheet.
  • Rub the brown sugar onto each slice of bacon to fully coat. I just dump a little on each piece, then spread it across the entire slice with my clean hands.
  • Place in a 350° oven for 15-20 minutes, or until bacon reaches your desired crispiness. Do keep in mind that once removed from the oven, the bacon will crisp up a bit more while cooling.
