Rolo Pretzel Turtles are decadent salted caramel and chocolate pretzel pecan bites that are ridiculously easy to make with just 3 ingredients. They can be made ahead in just minutes, and are perfect holiday treats!

Rolo Pretzel Turtles

Rolo Pretzel Turtles are decadent treats with sweet and salty layers, topped with a pecan. There's gooey caramel and chocolate with a crunchy pecan and a salty pretzel to hold the whole thing together.

They're perfect holiday treats because they're so easy to make with just 3 ingredients in mere minutes, and they can even be made up to a week ahead of time!

They make pretty additions to holiday tables or cookie exchange trays. Set these little treats out to munch on at your holiday parties this year and watch them disappear!

Rolo Pretzel Turtles Variations

  • Pretzels - I prefer to use the square pretzels. They are currently called "pretzel snaps" when I search for them for my grocery orders. You can also use mini pretzel twists, but more of the chocolate melts out of the bottom for these.
  • Candies - If you're making some of these for kids or just want to add some pops of colors, consider adding candies to some of them like these Rolo Pretzel original treats.
  • Sprinkles - Add some festive sprinkles to the melted chocolate while it's still melty and warm.
  • Pecans - For smaller bites of pecan, you can chop them into smaller pieces before adding on. You can also substitute for another nut such as walnuts or almonds.
  • Sandwiches - These can be turned into cute little turtle sandwiches. Simply add your pecan after baking, and then add a second pretzel on top.
  • Chocolate Dip - this is especially great for the sandwiches. Melt milk, dark, or white chocolate and dip the treats into it. You can then sprinkle on finely chopped pecans or some pretty festive sprinkles.

How to Store Rolo Pretzel Turtles

Rolo Pretzel Turtles are super easy to make ahead of time because they store well for a long time at room temperature. Store in an airtight container or bag on the counter for up to a week.

How to Freeze

Allow your treats to fully cool and set. Place them all flat on a baking sheet and freeze without touching for about an hour. Then transfer to a freezer container and freeze for up to 3 months. Allow to thaw on the counter at room temperature before eating.

More Holiday Candy Recipes You'll Love

  • Microwave Caramels - Super easy homemade caramels that are perfect for cookie exchanges and dessert trays that are literally made right in the microwave.
  • 2 Ingredient Peanut Butter Fudge - the easiest fudge you will ever make that tastes just like the delicious, creamy old fashioned peanut butter fudge everyone loves.
  • Mint Chocolate Bark - a simple, no bake holiday treat that you can dress up with your favorite festive candies and sprinkles.
  • Oreo Truffles - when you make these gooey, decadent chocolate Oreo truffles, there are never any leftovers!
  • Peppermint Meringues - super light and airy, like a freeze-dried marshmallow. These minty treats require very few ingredients and are light on calories too!

Ingredients

  • 36 square pretzels (or mini pretzel twists)
  • 36 Rolos unwrapped
  • 36 pecan halves

For the Drizzle (optional)

  • ½ cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • ½ teaspoon shortening or olive oil

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 300°F.
  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat.
  • Place pretzels flat in one layer on the prepared baking sheet. Place a Rolo on top of each pretzel.
  • Bake for 2 to 3 minutes until Rolos are soft, but not completely melted.
  • Remove from the oven, and gently press a pecan half onto each Rolo pretzel.

For the Drizzle

  • Place chocolate chips and oil in a small microwave-safe mixing bowl.
  • Microwave on high for 45 seconds. Stir. Then microwave in 30 second intervals, stirring each time, until chocolate is melted. Do not overcook or chocolate will seize and get hard.
  • Transfer melted chocolate to a zip bag. Cut off corner. Drizzle over Rolo pretzel turtles.
  • Let set until firm.

Notes

  • Storage: Store in an airtight container on the counter for up to a week.
  • Freezer Directions: Allow to set. Place them flat on a baking sheet and allow to freeze without touching for about 30 minutes to an hour. Then transfer to a freezer container and freeze for up to 3 months. Allow to thaw on the counter at room temperature before eating.
