Ways Mom Can Relax

Are you a mom that never seems to be able to relax? There’s always a way that mom can find time to relax, it’s just a matter of what REALLY WORKS! Relaxing is something everyone should find time for. It gives your mind and body time to rejuvenate, which will help you to be a more patient and attentive mom. Check out these 9 ways mom can relax!

9 Ways Mom Can Relax

1.  Find a book to read

There’s something about being taken away from the stresses of everyday life into a relaxing and calm place.  Curl up with a soft blanket and a cup of coffee (or some wine!) and be transported to a whole other world.  Check out this list of popular ebooks on Amazon for some good reading suggestions.

2.  Go on a walk

When the weather gets nice, another way mom can relax is by going on a walk. Walking by yourself in the fresh air is a great way to clear your mind and go into relaxation mode. Walking is great for your body, and studies have shown that people who regularly spend time outside are happier and more focused.

3.  Watch a movie

If there’s a movie that you love and that makes you relax, then go for it. Sitting down, watching a movie, with your feet propped up is a great way to relax. This is also a great opportunity to chow down on all your favorite snacks that you don't want to share with the kids.  Or if you're feeling super ambitious, you can have Dad or a babysitter watch the kids while you go out to a movie.

4.  Call up a friend

Sometimes having an actual adult to talk to can do wonders for your stress level.  Call up a friend and spend some time talking to them. Tell your friend about life and whatever else is on your mind.  It’ll be nice to reconnect with a friend, and take your mind off of everyday life.

5.  Start a journal

Release your thoughts and frustrations in a private place by starting your own journal. It’s amazing how getting emotions down on paper can help a mom to relax. Just being able to put your feelings into words helps you identify them and will

6.  Schedule in a time to relax

Moms are usually busy and have a lot on their plate, which is why it’s important to schedule that time out. It may seem kind of weird to schedule time to relax, but once you experience the freedom it brings, you will be super happy.  Whether it's 15 minutes in the morning before the kids wake up, or a nice hour-long bath once per week while the kids are at school or sleeping, looking forward to that special relaxation time can do wonders for your mood.

7.  Eat a nice meal

Sometimes moms forget to eat and their body goes crazy because they are going without proper nutrition. Eat a nice meal and watch your blood sugar level out! Relaxing comes a lot easier when you’re not hungry and you are getting fed the right things.

8.  A day of relaxation

There are things in life that just take a toll on moms. From taking the kids to school to making sure they are fed and bathed, life can be stressful. Take a day, once a month, to relax and just enjoy life. Take time to do things you’ve been wanting to do, even if that just means catching up on housework or errands that have been on your to-do list and stressing you out.

9.  Cut back on the stressful activities

There’s no doubt about it. It’s often hard to find time to relax because being mom means being super busy. Cut back on stressful activities can help you learn to relax a little bit.  Cut things out of your schedule that aren't totally necessary. And be honest. You don't need to do everything. Moms may seem like superheroes, but they're humans, just like everyone else.  And we just can't do it all, all the time.  That's okay.  Be honest with yourself and with your family about how much you can handle, and get rid of the non-necessities.

Relaxation does take some effort or planning sometimes. Very few people can actually relax easily, which is why it make take some trial and error to see what helps you relax. Try one of these activities, at least, once a week to help you, as a mom, learn how to relax.

Unfortunately, relaxation is often overlooked due to other commitments and time restrictions on mom.

As pointed out in your article "Very few people can actually relax easily". I would add that relaxing is a skill that needs to be practiced to gain the most benefit. It becomes easier if find something that you enjoy to help you relax.
