6 Small Ways to Bond With Your Child in a Big Way

6 Small Ways to Bond With Your Child in a Big Way

1.       Go on walk with just one child. Taking that special time to enjoy a one-on-one moment will encourage an active habit that still encourages dialogue.

2.       Leave a special note for your kids to find. Place a Post-It with joke in their lunchbox and they will be sure to enjoy a smile even when you are not around. Write a special goodnight on a slip of paper and leave it on their pillow. Bedtime will be something to look forward to.

3.       Work a on a project your child chooses. You might end up building a house on Minecraft or creating macaroni necklaces, but showing your child you are interested in what they find fun will be a big deal to them.

4.       Ask your child to teach you something. Often, kids can feel like they are constantly bossed around or feel they don’t contribute. Let your little one teach the latest dance craze, fold paper airplanes, or how to do something they learned in school.

5.       When things get stressful or your family is having a bad day, have an impromptu dance party. Maybe homework has your teen frustrated – turn up the tunes and let go for few minutes. Shake, wiggle, and wobble with your kids and encourage those moody tweens to just enjoy a few minutes of being silly. It will be refreshing and show them you understand that life can be tough.

6.       Institute a family meal night in which everyone has to contribute to the meal. Getting your kids in the kitchen will be bonding experience no matter how simple the meal is. Taco night is great way to get started. Have the little ones warm up tortillas, have the older kids make up the meat and beans, and mom and dad can dish out the sides for a make-your-own taco night that will be easy, quick, and bring everyone together.

It’s the little moments in life that add up to so much when it comes to family. Taking the time to breathe, be silly, or give your kids a one-on-one moment will be something everyone will be grateful for. You never know what you can learn from your children and nothing beats a family bonding moment. So, take a minute enjoy a these small ways you can bond with your child in a big way.
