Use this quick and easy recipe with basic, simple ingredients to make your own homemade Easy Baked Chicken Tenders that both you and the kids will love!
Easy Baked Chicken Tenders
Last year I made this incredible oven fried chicken recipe from the hubby's grandma's southern church cookbook. It was truly heavenly (and you can find it right here if you want to try it too). But the experience got me thinking that basically all chicken should be prepared that way. All chicken. So I came up with this Easy Baked Chicken Tenders recipe, and now I have two excuses to chow down. It's simple. It's baked right in the oven. And it tastes AMAZING.
To make these Easy Baked Chicken Tenders, you just need some very basic, simple ingredients. You'll need chicken tenderloins for however many chicken tenders you need to make. The recipe below will make about 8-10. If you want more, you'll need to double the recipe for more breading too. Plus, you'll also need flour, salt & pepper (white and black. If you don't have white pepper, you need to go get some. It's one of my favorite go-to spices to cook with, especially Southern food. It has the perfect amount of pepper taste, just a little softer flavor than black pepper, and a mildly spicy kick. You'll love it!), garlic powder, eggs, cornflakes, Parmesan, and water.
Now this next part is the hardest part, but don't worry. It's still super easy. You'll need 3 bowls. In bowl #1, add your flour, salt, black pepper, white pepper, and garlic powder. Whisk it all together, then set it aside. In bowl #2, add your eggs and water, and whisk them together. Set this bowl aside. And in bowl #3, add you crushed cornflakes and grated Parmesan cheese. Whisk it, and set it aside.
Next you'll want to prep your baking sheet, so that it's ready for you when you need it in a second. So just smear a little butter onto the baking sheet to grease and be sure to cover the whole thing. Or you can just grab a silicone mat, like one of these from Amazon. Line up your 3 bowls IN ORDER! You don't want to confuse yourself! Then grab your chicken and work it like an assembly line. Dredge a tenderloin in bowl #1, dip it in #2, then cover it in #3. Place the chicken tenderloins on your prepared baking sheet, and repeat the process for the remaining chicken. This process sounds really complicated but it's actually really quick once you have your assembly line set up.
When all the chicken is covered, bake it in a 375° oven for about 20-30 minutes. The coating will golden brown and the chicken should be cooked through. If I'm unsure about the chicken, I'll usually just break one in half to check if it's done in the middle.
Enjoy your Easy Baked Chicken Tenders with ketchup, barbecue, or any dipping sauce of your choosing, and fries with a nice salad. Or if your kids are weird like mine, a big side of broccoli.
