Collage with a picture of an eggnog martini in a martini glass with a round cream filled wafer cookie in it on top, an overhead view of the same eggnog martini on bottom next to a Christmas arrangement with evergreens and pinecones on bottom, and the words "eggnog martini" in the center.

This Eggnog Martini is a must-try for anyone who loves holiday flavors with a twist of elegance. Easy to make and deliciously festive, this cocktail is a holiday favorite that never fails to impress. So, gather your ingredients, shake up a batch, and toast to the season in style!

Eggnog Martini

The holidays are a time for joy, indulgence, and, of course, festive drinks. If you're looking to elevate your holiday gatherings, the eggnog martini is a sophisticated yet nostalgic choice that blends the creamy comfort of traditional eggnog with the elegance of a martini. .

The eggnog martini is more than just a drink—it's an experience. Its creamy texture and warm, spiced flavors evoke the coziness of the holidays, while its presentation adds a touch of sophistication to any gathering.

This holiday-inspired cocktail combines the rich, creamy flavors of eggnog with the smooth kick of vodka and hints of nutmeg and vanilla. It's a modern twist on the classic holiday beverage, transforming it into a stylish, crowd-pleasing cocktail. With its balance of sweetness and spice, it's the perfect way to toast the season.

What Kind of Eggnog Should I Use?

Any regular eggnog that you find in the grocery store will work, including dairy free versions.

You can also make your own homemade eggnog, which is ultra creamy and delicious.

Stay away from eggnog versions that already have alcohol in them as it will alter both the flavor and alcohol content of the drink.

Vodka versus Rum

I tested multiple variations of using rum and vodka. The balance I was trying to find was making sure that the classic eggnog flavor was distinguishable while also making it a martini, instead of a classic spiked eggnog.

I found too much rum did overpower the drink and take away the martini affect. So in this recipe there is slightly more vodka than rum, and I think the balance is turned out perfectly.

Eggnog Martini Serving and Garnish

  • Cinnamon Sugar Rim - This is called for in the recipe below along with the directions and ingredients to make it happen. It's not necessary, but highly recommended.
  • Sugar Rim - You can also do a plain sugar rim using the same method. You can use festive colored red or green or gold sanding sugar, or even flavored sugar, such as vanilla. You can also consider adding a bit of nutmeg to the sugar to extend the eggnog flavor.
  • Creme Filled Wafers - This elegant cookie acts as both a sweet snack and a garnish! The absolute best kind!
  • Cinnamon Sticks - A cinnamon stick will add a little extra spiced flavor as well as look pretty.
  • Whipped Cream - Top with a swirl of whipped cream, homemade or from a can!

What Pairs with an Eggnog Martini

An eggnog martini is best served as a dessert drink. Pair this festive cocktail with holiday sweets like spiced nuts, gingersnaps, snickerdoodles, or a charcuterie board.

How to Make Eggnog Martinis Ahead

You can prepare a larger batch of this recipe in a pitcher and chill in the refrigerator until guests arrive. You can adjust the size of the recipe by dragging the servings bar in the recipe below.

Skip the ice so you don't water it down while it's sitting in the fridge.

If it still needs more chilling when you're ready to serve, shake individual servings with ice, and pour into a martini glass.
