Watermelon Margaritas are the ultimate drink for backyard summer BBQs, poolside lounging, or Taco Tuesday. Made with fresh watermelon and just a few simple ingredients, this cocktail is naturally sweet, fresh, and ridiculously easy to blend up.

Watermelon Margaritas
One of the best parts of summer is sunny days outdoors, snacking on fresh, juicy watermelon. Which is also one of the best parts of these Watermelon Margaritas.
This fun drink is made with real fresh watermelon, and it's a perfect refreshing summer beverage for sipping on your porch. Sweet watermelon and tangy lime come together with tequila and triple sec, with a little swirl of agave syrup for extra sweetness and margarita flavor.
Watermelon margaritas can be served frozen, on the rocks, or even as a mocktail.
I love to serve them with snacks such as fresh homemade salsa or guacamole. Check out all of our Mexican inspired recipes here for more serving inspiration.
How to Salt or Sugar a Glass Rim
The best way to get salt or sugar on your glass rim is to dip it in simple syrup (mix equal parts sugar and hot water. Warm water until sugar is completely dissolved.) Once you dip the rim in the syrup, allow it to dry while you prepare the drinks. Because it will be sticky but no longer wet, the sugar or salt will stick without sliding down the glass.
The easiest way to do it is to simply run a lime wedge around the rim of your glass, then dip in coarse salt or sugar.
Alternately, you can use flavored salt or sugar such as jalapeno salt or even mix Tajin into the salt for added flavor.

Garnishes
If you're making drinks for a party, or just want to feel pretty and fancy, try some of these simple garnishes:
- Fresh watermelon
- Fresh summer fruit - such as cherries or strawberries for some extra sweetness and a different flavor
- Mint leaves - pretty and goes great with watermelon
- Jalapeno slices - fresh jalapenos for a little heat!
Mocktail Version
To make the same delicious refreshing watermelon margaritas without the alcohol, simply omit the tequila and triple sec. Replace it with water, soda water (flavored or plain), or juice. Milder juices like apple will let the watermelon shine, or you can try a bolder juice for more flavor like orange or pineapple.
