I live in the UK so don't use cups in recipes. Can someone please translate for me, also are American and Australian cup amounts identical? This recipe looks delicious so I'd like to get it right.
Michelle says
No, Australian and American cup amounts are slightly different, but close. I've translated to grams as closely as I can. However, I haven't tried the recipe measuring this way, so I can't guarantee the results. Please let me know how it goes if you try it!

I made it yesterday and everyone like it. I just use 1/2 cup of butter and turn out very well and Iโm not a baker at all. Thank you for the recipe.
Laura says
Anyone know what size cans of pears?
Michelle says
Sorry, this is an older recipe when I wasn't great at writing them yet, and hasn't been updated. The cake is delicious. I just wasn't a great writer. ๐ Anyway, just your "average size" cans, 15 ounces.
Alice Marshall says
Can I use fresh pears sliced for this recipe? Please let me know would like to make it tomorrow Thank you Alice
Michelle says
It would probably work. However canned pears are usually a little softer, in my experience and this might affect the overall texture.
