Ingredients

Cake:

  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 3 eggs beaten
  • 1 cup butter melted
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 3 cups flour
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 2-3 cans sliced pears drained

Topping:

  • ½ cup butter
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ¼ cup milk

Instructions

  • In a large mixing bowl, add ingredients one at a time in the order listed above. Stir after each ingredient addition. I used a whisk, but a rubber spatula or plain old spoon would work just as well.
  • Pour batter into a greased 9"x13" baking dish.
  • Bake at 350° for 45 minutes and remove.
  • In a saucepan, mix all of the topping ingredients. Bring to a boil for 3 minutes, then remove from heat.
  • Pour topping mixture over cake evenly.
  • Place cake back in the 350° oven for an additional 5 minutes.

I live in the UK so don't use cups in recipes. Can someone please translate for me, also are American and Australian cup amounts identical? This recipe looks delicious so I'd like to get it right.

No, Australian and American cup amounts are slightly different, but close. I've translated to grams as closely as I can. However, I haven't tried the recipe measuring this way, so I can't guarantee the results. Please let me know how it goes if you try it!

      200g granulated sugar
      200g brown sugar
      3 eggs beaten
      227g butter (melted)
      2 teaspoons vanilla extract
      375g flour
      2 teaspoons cinnamon
      1 teaspoon baking soda
      1/4 teaspoon salt
2 cans (425g each) sliced pears, drained.

This cake is so easy and is so awesome. My mom loves it and I make it for her all the time. She does not like sharing it though 😀

I made it yesterday and everyone like it. I just use 1/2 cup of butter and turn out very well and I’m not a baker at all. Thank you for the recipe.

Sorry, this is an older recipe when I wasn't great at writing them yet, and hasn't been updated. The cake is delicious. I just wasn't a great writer. 😆 Anyway, just your "average size" cans, 15 ounces.
