How Many Waffles Does This Recipe Make?
The answer will vary greatly depending on your waffle maker. This recipe will make about twelve 4-inch square waffles. You may make more or less waffles depending on the size and shape of your waffle iron. I love my large waffle iron that makes four waffles at once.
Variations & Tips
- Eggs - To get these waffles cooking a bit faster, you don't have to separate the egg yolks and whites. You can just put the whole egg in when the recipe says yolks. Your waffles will be a tad less fluffy with this method.
- Buttermilk - If you don't have buttermilk on hand, you can use this easy buttermilk substitution with just milk and vinegar. Alternately, you can use 1 cup plain yogurt and 1 cup milk, whisked together.
- Waffles Sticking - If your waffles are sticking to the iron, it likely hasn't cooked long enough to release. If your waffles are sticking and burning, I recommend splashing the iron with some olive oil, and gently wiping with a pastry brush to spread evenly. I don't recommend spray oils as they can ruin the iron.
- Pancakes - This recipe can also be pancakes! Check out the full instructions to make gingerbread pancakes here.
