I was wondering if I could use caramel sauce and then stir in cream cheese in it instead of using melted caramel candies? They are not popular in my country and melted caramels sound just like regular caramel sauce. Can I do that? Thanks, amazing recipe by the way!
Michelle says
I can't say for sure as I've never tried it. Caramel sauce is runnier than the melted caramels.
If you did use the sauce instead of the caramels, they would likely need a few extra minutes to set after baking. The cream cheese should stiffen it a bit, so it could work. And I would probably substitute 1 cup of caramel sauce for the candies.
If you try it, let me know how it goes!

How long will the cookies stay after you make them?
Michelle says
At least a week, covered or in a freezer bag.
