11 Fruits You Should Stock Up on This Summer

Fresh fruit can be dicey, especially if you're buying it out of season. Out-of-season fruit can be expensive and, frankly, not very good.

The summer months can be a great time to stock up on fresh fruit, as many of the varieties are now in season and can be purchased for just pennies per pound.

What to Do with Bulk Fresh Fruit

When buying fruit in bulk, you have a few options for use.

1. Freeze it

This is probably the easiest thing to do. Buy it, wash it, and pat it dry. Then transfer to freezer bags. Be sure to label the freezer bags with what it is, how much, and the date (month and year are fine). You think you'll remember these things, but trust me, you won't. You don't want to waste it because you forgot what it was or how long it had been in there!

2. Can it.

You can freezer can or pressure can. Turn it into sauces, jams, jellies, pie filling. The possibilities are endless.

3. Eat it fresh.

Fresh summer fruit is the sweetest, juiciest fruit around. You'll want to make sure you have the opportunity to eat some fresh before you pack it away.

Fruits You Should Stock Up on This Summer Season

So which fruits should you stock up on exactly? The 10 fruits below are the summer rockstars you want to keep your eye on. Keep your eyes on the grocery ads for even bigger sales. That's how you know when they'll truly in season. You will find them at rock bottom prices making them perfect for preserving for later!

You will typically find these in mid-July to mid-August. Blueberries are easy to freeze too, so you can easily buy in bulk and save them for the rest of the year.
