Crispy, spicy Cajun Baked Catfish can be made in just 30 minutes, top to bottom, and baked to golden, crispy perfection right in your oven.
Cajun Baked Catfish
I have a few pan-fried catfish recipes that I use all the time, but I couldn't help but think that I could probably stream line the process by baking it all in the oven at once. And, thank goodness, I tried it because that theory was right. And delicious.
This Cajun Baked Catfish recipe is very similar to my Southern Fried Catfish recipe (also delicious, so hop over and try it as soon as you get a chance!), but you can just bread it all at once, and then bake it all in the oven at once. Lots of time saved, and no flavor sacrificed.

Ingredients
- 1 pound catfish fillets about 4-6
- ½ cup cornmeal
- 1 tablespoon Cajun seasoning
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Set aside.
- In a shallow dish, mix together cornmeal, Cajun seasoning, garlic powder, and salt.
- Place a catfish fillet in the cornmeal dish. Coat completely. Remove to prepared baking sheet. Repeat for remaining catfish.
- Bake at 400°F for 20-25 min, until fish is cooked through, golden, and flaky.
Notes
- Storage: Store leftovers covered in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat leftover fish in the oven, toaster oven, or air fryer for the crispiest texture.
